Membership is $10 per year which covers membership and insurances. A further $20 per year is required for those wishing to access the research data.
Nathalia & District Historical Society meetings are held at the Muntz Room, Nathalia Historical Precinct, 45 Pearce Street, Nathalia at 10am on the third Wednesday of each month. Accessions meetings to log new donations are held on the first Wednesday of the month; this role is completed by senior committee members and other volunteers.
Nathalia & District Historical Society Museum is located at the Nathalia Historical Precinct which includes the Mechanics Institute that was built in 1887. While visiting you will come across an extensive collection of farm machinery and artefacts that have been used in this district, including unique and very rare range of harvesting machinery and horse drawn implements.
Our museum is open from 1.30pm to 4pm on the second Sunday of the month or by arrangement.
The museum is maintained by a small group of volunteers. New members are welcome at any time.
The Nathalia Historical Society produces a walking guide to historic sites in our town. This can be downloaded free of charge. Copies are also available at the Superb Reads Bookshop or Tourist Information Centre at the Barmah Forest Heritage and Education Centre, 73 Blake St Nathalia. For those who find it difficult to read A4 size brochure, a large print brochure is available at a small cost.
The site at 45 Pearce Street, Nathalia is overseen by a Section 86 Management Committee on behalf of the Moira Shire. The term of appointment to the Precinct is 4 years in line with council elections.
